Q: What supply does it need?

DC 12 V. Use the mains adapter, or a 12 V battery with the clip lead. The supply should deliver more than 2 A.

For a cattle fence, best length is within 10 km. The XSD-260B stores 2 J, puts out 1.5 J, and peaks at 10 kV.

How to connect it

Hang it from the top slot. Join the earth terminal to your ground system and the fence terminal to the fence wire, then connect the DC 12 V supply. Use the mains adapter, or a 12 V battery with the clip lead. The supply should deliver more than 2 A.

Pulse and housing

Stored energy is 2 J and output energy is 1.5 J. Peak voltage is 10 kV. Pulses arrive about every 1.3 seconds and each pulse is shorter than 0.1 seconds. The face has a power light, a shock light and a digital display. The housing is made for outdoor rain. The body is 16 × 9 × 6.5 cm. The longest run on this energiser is 20 km.
